What is VarCity?
VarCity brings the best in health and wellness to New York City teens. We work directly with fitness studios to develop high-energy teen-only classes that take place during after-school hours. Now teens have access to the world’s best trainers in the city’s premier studios!
And as a VarCity member, teens can keep taking classes at their favorite gyms or mix and match classes at a curated selection of the top studios in NYC — always for less than the price of retail.
How old do I have to be to attend a VarCity class?
If you're 13 to 18 VarCity has classes you can attend, but note that ages for classes can vary by studio.
How many classes are included and how much does a membership cost?
We currently offer plans tailored to all levels of activity. Buy individual classes or sign up for a monthly five or ten class membership. Just remember, the more classes you buy, the more you save!
I’m new to working out – can I take a class?
Absolutely! Our classes are designed for teens of all fitness levels. VarCity only works with trainers that are comfortable modifying classes for teens that have injuries or are out of practice. You did the hard part by showing up to class – now VarCity will help you get through it — and make sure you feel great along the way!
How often do you recommend coming to class?
Our class schedule is designed so that you can come every day! We vary the classes so you never get bored and make sure you aren’t overworking any part of your body. You might be sore sometimes, but that’s a good thing!
What should I bring to class?
VarCity requires you to arrive with sneakers, workout apparel and a bottle of water for all classes. If any additional equipment or apparel is necessary for a specific class, VarCity will inform you in your class-booking confirmation email.
Do you have a referral program?
Yes, for each friend you invite who takes a VarCity class, a 1-class credit will be applied to your account after your friend attends her/his class.
What studios are included?
Check our website for a list of New York City studios that have partnered with VarCity. Please note that our list of studio partners is growing everyday and is subject to change at any time.
Where is VarCity available?
VarCity is currently only available in New York City and will be expanding to additional cities in the coming months. Want to see VarCity classes in your city? Send us a message and let us know!
How long is a VarCity membership cycle?
Each VarCity class pack is one month in length beginning on the date of purchase, and will automatically renew on the same day each month unless purchased on the 31st of the month in which case you will be charged on the last day of the month, regardless of how many days are in the month. For example, if you purchase your VarCity membership on October 15th, your membership will auto-renew on November 15th. If you purchase your subscription on October 31st, your membership will auto-renew on November 30th. Unused classes do not roll over into the next membership cycle.
What is your class cancellation policy?
You can cancel a reservation for class without charge up to 6 hours in advance of the start time of class. Once cancelled, the class credit will go back into your account for use another time. If you cancel a class within 6 hours of the start time, you will be charged for the class. We apologize that we cannot make any exceptions. If you do not cancel within the specified cancellation period, a class credit will be deducted from your plan. Many classes have waitlists so if you can't make a class, please make sure to cancel in advance in order to allow others to take your spot. What happens if I am on the waitlist?
You will get an email confirmation when you have signed up for the waitlist. You will then get a second email notifying you if you have been added to the class off of the waitlist. Once you have been added to a class, you will be charged for that class if you do not remove yourself from the class or do not show up. The waitlist closes 4 hours before class starts, so if you have not received an email by that time, you will not be added off the waitlist. You can cancel a waitlist reservation without charge up until 4 hours before class starts.
Can I put my membership on hold?
Yes, you can put your membership on hold by clicking "Hold" in your Account Settings. While you are on hold, you will be charged $9.99 per month (or partial month) and any existing reservations for classes that start after you put your membership on hold will automatically be canceled. You can take your account off hold at any time and no reactivation fee will be charged when you return to your membership. When you take your account off of hold, you will have the same number of classes remaining in the billing cycle as you did before putting your account on hold.
How do I cancel my membership?
Cancel your membership at any time by going to "My Account" and clicking cancel. Cancellations cannot be carried out by customer service. All payments are nonrefundable and there are no credits or refunds for partially used membership periods. Following any cancellation, you will continue to be able to reserve classes through the end of your current billing period.
Are there any additional class fees?
Nope, your membership covers all expenses, however your membership does not cover studio fees for mat rentals, water, towels, shoes, etc.
Is my credit card information secure?
Protecting your credit card information is extremely important to us. VarCity encrypts all payment information and complies with PCI data security standards.
How far in advance can I book a class?
Booking windows vary by studio, from 5 to 14 days in advance.
Do you have a mobile app?
Not yet, but we will soon!
I am a class provider in the New York City and would love to add my classes to the VarCity platform...how do I do that?
We are actively adding new classes and studios every day and VarCity is a great way to: a) instill healthy habits in teens; b) invigorate your brand; and c) fill your studio during off-peak hours. Email us and we would be happy to discuss adding you to our platform!
